Whenever a card leaves your shield zone is a trigger condition.

Details

This ability triggers whenever a card leaves your shield zone, even outside of a 'break'.

Rules

• When multiple cards leave yourr shield zone simultaneously, the trigger will occur for each card that leaves.
• The ability will also trigger if a card that is not a shield, such as a Castle, leaves your shield zone.
• If a card leaving the shield zone is added to the hand and abilities such as 'Shield Trigger', 'Strike Back', 'Guard Strike', or 'Sabaki Z' are used, the resolution of unrelated triggered abilities can't interrupt until those abilities are fully resolved. Therefore, the ability of "whenever a card leaves your shield zone" can't resolve until the Shield Trigger or similar effects are completed.
  • Example 1: When 'BAKUONSOOO 8th, Hybrid Summit' attacks an opponent, and a shield is broken that is 'Death Gate, Gate of Hell', the resolution order is as follows:
    • Cast of Death Gate, Gate of Hell for no cost.
    • Destruction of an untapped creature and reanimation by Death Gate, Gate of Hell.
    • GR summon by BAKUONSOOO 8th, Hybrid Summit.
    • Come Into Play effect of the Gacharange creature.
    • Come Into Play effect of the reanimated creature by Death Gate, Gate of Hell.
    • Since the Gacharange Summon occurs after the destruction by Death Gate, Gate of Hell, the newly summoned Gacharange Creature won't be destroyed immediately.
  • Example 2: In a similar scenario, if a shield that is Suzu Kumada is broken, the resolution order is as follows:
    • Summon of Suzu Kumada for no cost.
    • Gacharange Summon by BAKUONSOOO 8th, Hybrid Summit.
    • Come Into Play effect of the Gacharange Creature.
    • Come Into Play effect of Suzu Kumada.
    • As the Shield Trigger effect of a creature ends upon its summoning, its Come Into Play effect can also apply to the Gacharange creature.
  • Example 3: If Believe Eyes! Jengegger vs. Shakedown is in the battle zone and your opponent breaks one of your shields, and it was Rapid Reincarnation, it must be resolved first. This means that a creature from the graveyard can be recovered and put directly onto the battle zone, but other actions can't be taken until this effect is completed.

Other

There is an ability that triggers 'when a shield leaves' which can be treated as backward compatible to this ability. It isn't much different from this ability, but there are differences in the number of triggers when a single shield consisting of multiple cards leaves.

• 'Whenever a card leaves your shield zone' will trigger for the number of cards contained in one shield as described above, but 'whenever one of your shields leaves' will trigger only once.
• 'Whenever a card leaves your shield zone' will trigger will trigger even if a Castle is removed with 'Lance of Tonginus', but in that case, 'whenever one of your shields leaves' won't trigger.
