Water Darkness Degeneration is a combo rush deck type.
Details
It is named after the Degenerate gameplay term for removing the top card of an evolution creature in the battle zone.
Like other rush decks, it features low-cost cards to rush the opponent, focusing on Evolution Creatures with the Graveyard evolution ability.
However, unlike other rush decks, it intends to use a card like Dragon Pulse Technique - Fortress Destroyer or Senju Splash on evolution creatures that had evolved over a high-power creature in your graveyard or hand, in order to put that creature onto your side of the battle zone for a low amount of mana.
It is usually performed in 3 steps;
- Play a card such as Emergency Typhoon or Atsuto, Duel Hero Strategist to put a heavyweight creature such as Heavy Death Metal, End of the Century into your graveyard.
- Summon a creature such as Death March, Reaper Puppeteer, evolving over the copy of Heavyweight creature from your graveyard. If your hand has Completely Unidentified and Andorage, Lord of Devils/Emperor Neuron, it will suffice.
- Cast Dragon Pulse Technique - Fortress Destroyer to put the top card of the evolution creature into your hand, leaving the Heavyweight creature in the battle zone.
Unfortunately, the win condition of this deck is highly cumbersome and needs multiple key cards in both hand or grave, and thus it becomes deceptively vulnerable towards discard and can be rushed down easily due to bad shuffles.
Due to the general instability and vulnerabilities of the deck, it was gradually dropped out of favor for more stable decktypes.
