Trigger refers to satisfying the trigger condition of a Trigger Ability.

Details

It is due to a players actions such as drawing a card or destroying a creature, or by a cards ability such as putting the creature with a Come Into Play ability into the battle zone.

It is colloquially used as slang for the Shield Trigger keyword.
