Duel Masters Wiki

Thoth, also known by his alias Thoth the Heaven Emperor (天帝Tてんていトト), was introduced in the Duel Masters Cross season of the Duel Masters anime series.

He is a member of the Fua Duelists. He is marked as (T) and ranked as 7th in the organization.

Description[]

Thoth is an old man hailing from Egypt, whose clothes resemble a clown costume, and he moves around on an electronic wheel-chair with robotic arms. He holds onto a scepter with a "T" on the top of it, with a button on the bottom that can destroy the fortress.

Personality[]

Thoth appears to be a psychotic kind of person who views himself as a god and casually explodes his robot subordinates for seemingly no apparent reason and enslaves children to find Duel Masters for Zakira, baiting them with food and pleasantries, only to force them into slave labor and duels that result in expulsion to an underground pit once defeated. He likes soft ice cream and might bathe in it during his rest times (which is powered by child slaves), and a scoop of soft ice cream can be seen on the benches of his chair.

Plot[]

Anime[]

He was put in charge of one of the labyrinth fortress hiding Zakira's secrets and also capturing Dr. Root. He has also defeated Mimi in a duel. He was later defeated by Kokujo.

Manga[]

Shobu got his deck stolen in an orphan village in Egypt and won the young leader of the village with his deck as a gamble in a duel. It was turned out that the decks were stolen for them in order to reach a paradise owned by Thoth. In reality, this was actually a trap set up by him to bait children with food and pleasantries, and he intended to give any Duel Masters he captures to Zakira and the rest as slave labor in his soft ice cream factory.

Shobu first runs into him when one of his robots found a Duel Master (Shobu himself), causing Thoth to personally run out in excitement trying to capture him. He asks Shobu if he wants to enter his pyramid, but Shobu refuses, so he had another one of his robots blast him into the pyramid anyways. Shobu challenges him to a duel out of anger that he is associated with Zakira only to be defeated when he crossed La Byle, Seeker of the Winds with Grand Cross Catastrophe, and he was instantly deported to a basement where he was found staging a death tournament between 1,000 children until a Duel Master can be found. The losers are all dropped to a pit and forced to work in slave labor to power up his ice cream spa. It reached the point where only two duelists, Jed and Horus remained. Horus won the duel and was instantly captured by Zakira via the GARDE UFO.

Shobu challenges Zakira to a duel, but Thoth intercepts and says that he should duel with him instead. Zakira also orders him to detonate of the entire area in 30 minutes, although Thoth does take his time dueling Shobu and Zakira dueling Esmeralda. In that duel, he used tap and bash tactics with Captain Mechagoron and used multiple Osmosis Bullet Soul Skull Hunter to threaten Shobu. Then he send out Captain Million-Parts to solidify his field but was defeated by Shobu stacking Bolgalshack, Super Divine Dragoon. The facility was blown up after 30 minutes as intended and Thoth was seemingly never heard of again.

Deck[]

He uses a Light, Water and Nature civilization deck. His deck is focused on using the Great Mecha King, Mecha Thunder and Shinobi races.

Trivia[]

  • His name comes from the Egyptian God, Thoth Wikipedia.
    • True to his name, in the original Fighting Edge manga series he holds a "Paradise" in Egypt and calls himself "The God of Knowledge", which is the same title that Thoth has in Egyptian myth.
  • When Thoth was spectating the Duel between Jed and Horus, Zakira called him by phone, which startled him and caused him to scream in frenzy until he found out it was his superior Zakira calling and was left silent. Zakira presumably ordered him to capture the person who won the death match between 1,000 children.
  • Thoth did not actually lie when he claims that he will send any Duel Masters he captured to paradise. As the winners are abducted by Zakira and sent to his flying fortress where they would be inevitably killed off, in some form of (misleading) way they are "sent to heaven".
