Supertype is a gameplay characteristic that give special rules to Card Types.

It is a term also used in Magic: The Gathering.

Each card only has a single card type, but it may have more than one supertype (such as Evolution Psychic Creature or Evolution Exile Creature).

There are no supertypes for spells or castles.

While the card types perform similar gameplay actions, the different forms can be handled differently by the rules (such as Creature, compared to Exile Creature, Psychic Creature, or Dragheart Creature).

Supertype: Rules and Features Card Types:
Evolution Must evolve on a specified type.
Doesn't get summoning sickness.

Star Evolution Has Star Evolution ability.
Doesn't get summoning sickness.
When that creature would leave, only the top card leaves instead.
Forbidden Star Evolution doesn't require an evolution source.

  • 204. Card Type
    • 204.1. Card type is a characteristic of a card which is usually printed just under the illustration.
    • 204.2. Card types include "Creature", "Spell", "Cross Gear", "Castle", "Cell", "Weapon", "Fortress", "Impulse", "Field", "Core", "Aura", "Ceremony", "Nebula", "Artifact", "Land", "Rule Plus", and "Tamaseed".
    • 204.3. Cards may have supertypes. They are written before the card type. Supertypes include "Evolution", "Psychic", "Psychic Super", "Exile" "Dragheart", "Forbidden", "D2", "Neo" and "Gacharange".
      • 204.3a "Creature" can have "Evolution", "Psychic", "Psychic Super", "Exile", "Dragheart", "Forbidden", "Neo", "GR" and so on.
      • 204.3b "Impulses" can have "Forbidden" as a supertype.
      • 204.3c "Field" can have "D2" or "Final Forbidden" as a supertype.
