Spell Steal is a term given to cards that allow you to cast on your opponent's spells from one of their zones (usually the hand or graveyard).
Details[]
You are able to use your opponents cards as if they are your own. Under the current Duel Masters rules, this is only available for spells.
It first appeared on Bluum Erkis, Flare Guardian where the spells were cast from among your opponent's shields if they had the Shield Trigger keyword.

Light Water / Creature Guardian 8500 |
■ Whenever this creature would break one of your opponent's shields, your opponent shows that shield to you instead of putting it into his hand. If it's a spell that has "shield trigger," you cast it for no cost, then put it into your opponent's graveyard. If it's not, your opponent puts it into his hand. ■ Double breaker |
It later appeared on other cards such as Gabble, Super Eureka which could cast the spell from among the top cards of their deck.

Water / Evolution Creature 7000 |
■ Evolution—Put on one of your water creatures. ■ Invasion—Water command (When one of your water commands attack, you may put this creature from your hand onto it.) ■ Double breaker ■ When you put this creature into the battle zone, your opponent reveals the top 5 cards of their deck. Choose a spell from among them and put the rest onto the bottom of their deck. Cast that spell for no cost, then put it into your opponent's graveyard. |
Cards such as Code:Heaven allow the spell to be cast from your opponent graveyard.

Water / Orega Aura Dragon Code + Tricks + Deletron +4000 | |
■ The attached creature gets "powered breaker". (A creature that has "powered breaker" breaks an additional shield for each 6000 power.) ■ Deloop System: After the attached creature's attack, you may cast a spell from your opponent's graveyard for no cost. If you do, put that spell on the bottom of your opponent's deck. Then you may attach this aura to another of your gacharange creatures. ■ At the end of your turn, gacharange summon.

Rulings[]
- While you are using cards from your opponent's hand, you are the player that casts the spell. Therefore cards such as Sir Leopol Deenay, the Ice Fang and Matthew Stewart, Wild Beast with the "Whenever you cast a spell" text still trigger.
- Therefore, if you discard your opponents Ryusei Kaiser, the Eternal (or other Admirals), it can use the Madness ability and be put into the battle zone.
- This also includes cards such as Core Calibur, Mobile Base / Electro Shower.
- Any abilities that trigger after casting are performed by your opponent. For example, if you cast an opponents spell that has Charger, after the rest of the spell ability has resolved, the card is put into your opponents mana zone.
- If you steal an opponents spell with Cyber K Wozurek, the spell will be put into your opponents mana zone, but not under your deck.
- If a spell was cast by Spell Steal with Cogiliza, Great Magician, if it was sent to another zone with a replacement effect, the active player takes effect priority.
- For example, if you cast your opponents spell that has Charger with Cogiliza, Great Magician, that spell is put onto the bottom of your deck with the replacement effect, and won't be put into the mana zone.
- If spells can't be cast due to the effects of your opponents Spell Del Fin, Light Divine Dragon or Codeking Number Nine, you can't cast the spell, but you resolve any abilities that would occur afterwards. However, you can't use any "If you do" abilities as no spell cast was resolved.
- For example, Bluum Erkis, Flare Guardian says "then put it into your opponent's graveyard", so you put the card into their graveyard even if you can't cast it. However, Code:Heaven says "If you do, put that spell on the bottom of your opponents deck". As you can't cast it, its not put on the bottom of the deck.
- After you cast Q.Q.QX. / Final Burial Five Sense Down and resolve the spell, the card's owner puts the creature into the battle zone.
