Rebuilding is the term for the process performed when the top card of an object with multiple overlapping cards leaves.
Details[]
It is mostly commonly done with the "Degenerate" term, which removes the top card of an evolution creature.
With the advent of the Star Evolution keyword, a major rules revision was made with the March 16, 2021 Rules revision.
- They were further revised with the addition of Tamaseed on April 8, 2022. This allows other non-creature card types to stay after rebuilding if they are a card type that can exist by itself in the battle zone.
Rules[]
- Cards that stay in the battle zone in this way aren't treated as "being put" into the battle zone.
- Come Into Play abilities can't be used. Abilities such as Magnum, Allshot Puppet that trigger from creatures being put into the battle zone also won't trigger.
- The tapped or untapped state of the evolution creature is inherited.
- The information from the evolution source of being in the battle zone since the start of the turn is remembered. This is important for summoning sickness.
- Therefore, if a creature is summoned and evolved in a turn, and then the top card is removed, the evolution source still has summoning sickness.
- If the evolution source was done by Mana evolution or Time Changer, Space-Time Engineer, it will remember the turn it placed underneath as well.
- When putting multiple cards under the cards at the same time for an evolution keyword such as Vortex evolution or Galaxy Vortex evolution, determine the order in which the cards are stacked at the time you put the evolution creature into the battle zone. This is determined by the player that puts out the creature.
- The evolution supertype of a card that is in the battle zone after being degenerated is ignored.
- If you had an evolution creature that has an ability such as Galaxy Vortex evolution with 3 evolution sources underneath, and the top card leaves the battles zone, the stack remains as two cards underneath a non-evolution creature.
- For example, if Beginning Romanov, Lord of the Demonic Eye is in the battle zone with 3 Writhing Bone Ghoul underneath, if the top card of Beginning Romanov leaves the battle zone, the stack will remain in the battle zone as Writhing Bone Ghoul over two other copies of itself.
- Even if the underneath card is an evolution creature that doesn't have the proper evolution source, it remains in the battle zone as a single creature.
- As an example, if you have a Death March, Reaper Puppeteer that has evolved over Romanov Kaiser NEX, the Super Enlightened with Graveyard evolution, and Dragon Pulse Technique - Fortress Destroyer removes the Death March from the battle zone, the Romanov Kaiser NEX remains in the battle zone.
- If you had an evolution creature that has an ability such as Galaxy Vortex evolution with 3 evolution sources underneath, and the top card leaves the battles zone, the stack remains as two cards underneath a non-evolution creature.
- If a card is put underneath another card, it is put on the bottom of the stack.
- This is relevant for Time Changer, Space-Time Engineer or Timeless Garden.
- The order of the cards put underneath can't be changed.
- If the top card is a card that can't remain in the battle zone, put cards from the top of stack until the top is a creature.(2021年3月16日ルール改訂)
- For example, if Dark Matter, Zenith of "Magic" is in the battle zone in a stack over a combination of spells and twinpact cards, if its degenerated, you remove cards from the top of the deck until you reveal a twinpact as a spell card type can't remain the battle zone.
- Rebuilding only occurs with evolution creatures. If a card such as Bangetsu 卍 Ga Ryuzark 卍 / Bangokusatsu that is placed over various magic tool creatures and/or spells is removed from the battle zone, the underneath cards will all be put into the battle zone due to Card Based Removal.
