Mass Removal is a term for Removal cards that remove multiple creatures from the battle zone at the same time.
Details[]
Scarlet Skyterror, Apocalypse Day, and Ballom Emperor, Lord of Demons are typical examples of Mass Removal cards.

6 Apocalypse Day |

As Mass Removal cards don't choose targets, cards such as Petrova, Channeler of Suns or other Unchoosable cards can be removed at any time. Abilities that trigger when they are chosen such as Red ABYTHEN Kaiser are also not triggered.
However, it can be difficult to handle your own creatures being destroyed as well unless they feature Put Into Graveyard abilities or the card only affects the opponent.
Mass Removal works in the following steps
- Creatures that have a "when this creature is destroyed ability' have their conditions met.
- The active player resolves the substitution effect for their creatures, then their opponent does.
- Any other destroyed creatures are put into the players graveyard.
- The active player resolves any Put Into Graveyard abilities, then their opponent does.
Many Mass Removal cards are from the Fire Civilization, often Power Based Removal or Cost Based Removal, such as 5000GT, Riot, Bolshack Superhero or Hell's Hot Spring.

Rules[]
The following is a detailed procedure for Mass Removal.
- 1. Creatures that meet the destruction conditions become "pending to be destroyed/leaving". Currently, they are still in the battle zone.
- 2. When applying Destruction Replacement effects, they are also left pending.
- Replacement effects such as Infinity Dragon or Master G, Super Eureka require additional processing by the active player. Creatures that that didn't gain resistance by these effects still don't leave the battle zone yet.
- 3. All creatures that meet the destruction conditions now leave the battle zone at the same. When the designated cards move between zones due to a replacement effect, they also move now. If a triggered ability (such as Put Into Graveyard) is triggered, it will be temporarily be left pending until the Mass Removal is finished.
- A creature with "Ultra Saver" can use its ability to protect your other creatures from removal even if it itself is being removed.
- Shields added to your hand with Escape or True Escape are added to your hand at this time.
- Creatures that did not gain resistance due to the effects of "Infinity Dragon" and "Super Strange Master G" also leave the battle zone at this timing.
- 4. Resolve any pending 'Put Into Graveyard' abilities. Regardless of the order they were triggered, the active player resolves first. (See: Trigger Ability)
Other[]
- It is always treated as creatures being destroyed "At the same time"
- For many years, the ruling had the creatures being destroyed one at a time by the active player, but after September 28, 2012, it was changed to the current rule. However, when multiple creatures are put into the battle zone at the same time, they are put one at a time.
- If a creature with an ability that triggers "When another creature is destroyed" and another creature is destroyed at the same time, the ability can no longer be used when the creature is destroyed. As such, you can't refer to the number of creatures destroyed at the same time for the ability.
- In the past, before the above rule on September 3, 2018, if 2 creatures such as Super Trash Train, Fuuma Devil were destroyed at the same time, they were able to draw a card from the other being destroyed for a total of 2 cards, but this ruling change meant no cards were drawn.
