Mana Evolution is an evolution keyword exclusive mostly to Nature Civilization evolution creatures.
Details[]
Rather than evolving over one of your creatures in the battle zone, an evolution creature that has Mana Evolution is put into the battle zone over one of your creatures in your mana zone. This allows you to not need to have an Evolution Source in the battle zone.
In regular evolution, the number of creatures in the battle zone doesn't change, whereas mana evolution puts a creature into the battle zone that can attack immediately (as it get summoning sickness).
- This makes them suitable for Beatdown and Rush deck types as they can act as a "speed attacker with the demerit of reducing mana" rather than an evolution creature.
If you use a For No Cost ability such as Crest of Mother, Magmadragon Balga Geyser or Terradragon Bagnaborne to put an evolution creature that has Mana Evolution into the battle zone, if you have a valid evolution source in your mana zone, you are able to put that Mana Evolution creature into the battle zone while choosing from your mana zone and stacking it over it.
Like Mana Reburst, you are able to choose the evolution source from the cards your tapped to pay for the Summon Cost.
All primarily appearing on creatures in the Nature Civilization, it also appears on cards in the Light, Darkness and Fire civilizations, each evolving from cards of their respective civilizations.
- Ballom Quake, Lord of Demons is a rare exception to this, as a Darkness Nature card that evolves from the Demon Command race.
It has multiple variants including:

- Q. Can you use the Mana Evolution ability over Superior Silkid in your mana zone?
- A. Yes, you can. The ability of "You can't put a card on this creature" is only valid in the battle zone, so you can choose this creature as an evolution source while this creature is in your mana zone. Also, because it loses its effect and characteristics while its under a creature, it doesn't immediately remove the card above it. source
- Q. I summoned Diamond Cascade while my opponent has Gyaia, Ground Seal Dragon in the battle zone. What happens?
- A. The evolution creature is put into the battle zone stacked over the creatures from your mana zone, but each card is then put into your mana zone with the replacement effect of Gyaia, Ground Seal Dragon. While the evolution source passed through the "anywhere zone" during the summoning method, it is treated as a card newly put into the mana zone, but as it hasn't changed zones, its tapped status doesn't change. source
