Magic: The Gathering is a strategy card game created by Richard Garfield Wikipedia in 1993, and published by Wizards of the Coast.

It is sometimes known as Magic (マジック), Gather (ギャザ) or more commonly, MTG.

Details[]

In Japan, the company's branch office was Hobby Japan until 2004, and is currently handled by Takara Tomy since 2012.

It is the world's first trading card game, with many later released TCG's being affected by the design of this game. The gameplay of Duel Masters was also based on this game.

Concepts of Civilization (known as Color), Mana and Races of this game are incorporated as well as common terms, such as Tapping and Blocking.

The original manga volumes of Duel Masters featured Magic: The Gathering, with many of the characters such as Shobu, Kokujo, Hakuoh and Mimi playing it. After the Duel Masters game was created however, the manga and future anime series have continued with the Duel Masters trading card game with no future mention of the Magic: The Gathering game.

  • There is however a serialized manga series '切札勝舞はマジック:ザ・ギャザリングを使いつづける' (Shobu Kirifuda continues to play Magic: The Gathering) that continues to play MTG and not have the characters play Duel Masters due to the fact of the dangerous "Duel of Truth" games.

List of Collaboration Cards[]

Each of these cards based on Magic: The Gathering cards have been printed in Duel Masters.

Before DMEX-18, they were each released in Black Box Pack products (that have similarities to an "Un-set"). (Nicol Bolas has also received other reprints.)
