- This card is named after and based on the character of Jace Beleren, from Magic The Gathering, the sister-series of Wizards of the Coast. He is a human planeswalker who is incredibly intelligent and adept with blue (Water) magic, capable of such talents as clairvoyance and illusion. He is also a member of the "Oath of the Gatewatch", a group of planeswalkers dedicated to protecting the multiverse.

- History of the original card:
- Jace, the Mind Sculptor originally appeared in the expansion "Worldwake" in the Eldrazi block of Magic: the gathering as a Mythic Rare (Which had the same packaging rate as Super Rares in Duel Masters after Dragon Saga). Due to it's amazing jamming, draw and removal abilities as well as its ability to win the game all by itself using it's -12 ability, it is considered extremely powerful and players described it as one of the most broken cards in the game since the notorious Skullclamp. As a result, it is known as "Shin Jace" (神ジェイス) by players due to it's god-like abilities and copies of this card sold for over 10000 yen in the secondary market and foil versions are expected to be even more expensive. Due to it's sheer power and versatility, after more than 1 year the card was banned completely in modern format.
- In Duel Masters, the +0 ability is reenacted as a Come Into Play ability and the -1 Ability is reenacted as a Attack Trigger. It also costs 4 and had 3000 power, the same ratio as the card from Magic: The Gathering which costed 4 and had 3 loyalty counters.
