■ Castle—Choose one of your shields and attach this card to fortify that shield. When that fortified shield leaves your shields, put this card into your graveyard. (Use "Shield Trigger" abilities before putting this card into your graveyard.) ■ Whenever you put a creature into the battle zone, you may draw a card. ■ If the fortified shield isn't fortified by any other castles, whenever the fortified shield would be broken by your opponent's creatures, you may return one of your other shields to your hand instead. | ||
Creatures with these abilities are also known as System Creatures. While different from most other draw engines, Factory Shell Q is also considered as one.
Unlike Energy Stream, they don't provide much advantage in the short term. However, as their provide an effect for the entire length of their existence in the battle zone, they have to potential to draw more cards in the long term if they left and not removed.
Unfortunately, most of are easy to destroy due to low power, so protection abilities such as Saver might be required.
As psychic or dragheart cards are put into the hyperspatial zone at the start of a game and the zone is considered public information, it is easy to be ready for removal cards such as Aqua Attack (BAGOOON Panzer) or Evidegoras, Dragon Sonic Aircraft Carrier.
Draw Engines are also known as Draw Sources.
Control decks are the most likely to use these form of cards as they aim to gain advantage over a long game in a slow matter while also protecting themselves. As Aqua Attack (BAGOOON Panzer) can be brought out easily, it is even possible to be used in an All Yes discard deck that only uses Light/Darkness cards.
They can be useful to recovering from mass Card Discard such as Lost Soul or Soul Advantage.
While it is most common in the Water Civilization like all cards that draw cards, it exists in all civilizations, but sometimes with different styles. Motrack, Explosive Striker in the Fire Civilization triggers when one of your fire creatures win a battle, and Darkness can draw card(s) when a creature is destroyed (Super Trash Train, Fuuma Devil / Dark Soul Creation).
