Downgrade refers to cards that are weaker than a similar card.

Details

This can be in terms of effect, power (the same as or lower), and cost (the same as or higher), but the race of the card is different, which causes the card to be subject to various detrimental effects such as Sasha, Channeler of Suns.

Killer the Kill, Demon Dragon King, Deadzone, S-Rank Zombie > Ultracide Worm (Race is different)
Gensetoraise, Burial Hero > Zagaan, Knight of Darkness (Can be blocked by Sasha, Channeler of Suns)
Screwmar, Decaying Scar Commander > Zagaan, Knight of Darkness (May trigger Madness effects)
Glenmalt, Explosive Swordmaster > Billion-Degree Dragon = Neo Bolshack Dragon > Gaulezal Dragon (Glenmalt is affected by Miracle Miradante, but otherwise better)
Emeralda, Pitch Dragon Elemental > Lah, Purification Enforcer (Race is different, Dragon allows cards such as VAN Beethoven, Zenith of "Shura" and Codeking Mozart to lock it)
