Declaration of Usage is a rule procedure for using a Trigger Ability that triggers from a Private Zone.
Details[]
When using an ability that triggers in a private zone, you must inform your opponent of your declaration of usage.
This is performed by revealing the card to your opponent and declaring that you will be using that cards ability.
You can't use these group of abilities if you don't declare their usage in advance.
Example of Declaration of Usage[]
Example 1[]
When you attack with The Red, Lightning Sonic and want to use the Invasion ability of Redzone, Roaring Invasion in your hand, the following steps are taken:
- i. When 'The Red, Lightning Sonic' attacks, the Invasion ability of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' in your hand triggers.
- ii. Reveal the 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' card in your hand to your opponent and inform them that you are using the Invasion ability of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion'.
- iii. The declared Invasion ability of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' is put on standby.
- iv. Resolve the standby Invasion ability of the 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' that was put on standby.
Example 2[]
When you attack with The Red, Lightning Sonic and want to use the Invasion ability of Redzone, Roaring Invasion and Redzone Z, Passionate Invasion in your hand, the following steps are taken:
- i. (When multiple abilities requiring declaration are used simultaneously) When 'The Red, Lightning Sonic' attacks, the Invasion abilities of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' and 'Redzone Z, Passionate Invasion' in your hand trigger.
- ii. Reveal the 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' and 'Redzone Z, Passionate Invasion' cards in your hand to your opponent and inform them that you are using the Invasion abilities of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' and 'Redzone Z, Passionate Invasion'.
- iii. The declared Invasion abilities of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' and 'Redzone Z, Passionate Invasion' is put on standby.
- iv. Resolve the standby abilities of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' and 'Redzone Z, Passionate Invasion' that were put on standby in any order you choose.
Example 3[]
When you attack with The Black V, Roaring Sound and want to use the Invasion ability of Redzone, Roaring Invasion from your hand, so an ability requiring a declaration of usage as well an ability not requiring a declaration both trigger, the following steps are taken::
- i. When 'The Black V, Roaring Sound' attacks, the Attack Trigger ability of 'The Black V, Roaring Sound' and the Invasion ability of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' in your hand trigger.
- ii. The Attack Trigger ability of 'The Black V, Roaring Sound' is put on standby.
- iii. Reveal the 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' card in your hand to your opponent and inform them that you are using the Invasion ability of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' .
- iv. The declared Invasion ability of 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' is put on standby.
- v. Resolve the standby abilities of 'The Black V, Roaring Sound' and 'Redzone, Roaring Invasion' that were put on standby in any order you choose.
Other Details[]
This is done to prove that the cards that will be used from now on will be used properly before one non-public information blends into another non-public information.
Declaring the Shield Trigger is mandatory as soon as the card was added to your hand by the current break.
In addition, the procedure of declaration plays a major role in convenience of card design, prevention of complication of rules, and reduction of time per turn.
If cards didn't need to be declared at their specific timing, it could lead to scenarios where a card such as Tulk, the Oracle could attack, Revolution Change into Rafululu, Sound Faerie, and then Weiyou, Muji and Dogiragon Buster, Blue Leader in the same attack.
It would also impact the strength of cards such as Platina Walsura S that draw cards that attack, if you drew a card that has Revolution Change or Invasion.
Rules[]
- A trigger ability in a private zone can't be used if no declaration of usage is made when it is triggered, preventing it from being put on standby and resolving.
- When a declaration of usage from a private zone is done, the card with the ability must be revealed to your opponent.
- Even if the trigger ability occurs in a public zone, the declaration of usage is still required. Example: Gate of Moonless Night
- A trigger ability that has been declared to be used is put on standby. It is then resolved like any other Trigger Ability.
- The timing for the declaring is described in the card text. If the correct timing is met, you can declare as many cards as you want at the same time, but you can't declare additional cards after you have resolved even one of the effects.
- You must meet the conditions on the time of the trigger up to the "whenever ~," part of the effect.
- When attacking with Mauchu, One Extreme, you are able to declare the usage of Momotarus, Super Nine Extremes but not G.O.D., Extreme Invasion. This is because the the Invasion requirements of 'G.O.D., Extreme Invasion' aren't met at the time of the attack.
- It is not necessary to meet the conditions on the time of the trigger after the "whenever ~," part of the effect.
- When you cast a Magic Tool spell, even if you don't have a total of 4 or Magic Tools in your battle zone and/or graveyard, you can declare the usage of Void Gate of Moonless Night for 卍 Gi Lugirin 卍 / Bangoku Brain.
- You can declare the usage of Revolution 0 Trigger or Oniend (for spells) whenever one of your opponent creature's attacks, even if the number of shields isn't met. However, if the number of shields isn't met as you resolve them, the ability will fail (Rules 603.4)
- If the action itself is prohibited by an effect, you can't declare.
- If summoning is prohibited by an opponent's Miradante, Time Revolution, then you can't declare the usage of an ability that summons, such as Shield Trigger, Strike Back, Ninja Strike or Gate of Moonless Night.
- If casting a spell is prohibited by an opponent's Spell Del Fin, Light Divine Dragon, then you can't use Shield Trigger or discard cards with Strike Back.
- However, if only the result of the action is prohibited, the declaration of usage can be done even if the result is a misfire.
- During your opponent's attack with Meteorshower Auroratheater, you can declare the use of abilities that attempt to summon creatures within the range where they cannot be put out.
- If your opponent's Senno, Brainwash prohibits the ability creatures being put into the battle zone in any way except summoning, you can declare the use of abilities (Invasion, Revolution change, etc.) that would put creatures into to the battle zone in a non-summoning way. Also, if Senno, Brainwash is destroyed by the Attack Trigger ability of Nicol Bolas, it could Revolution Change into Dogiragon Buster, Blue Leader.
- If your opponent has Pantherbear, World Chain in the battle zone, and you haven't cast or summoned any other card during that turn, you can declare usage of any number of cards at once. If the first card fails to remove the Pantherbear, World Chain, the second and subsequent copies will misfire and fail to summon or cast.
- If you can only cast 1 spell each turn due to your opponent's Golden the Johnny, you can declare the use of both cards by adding 2 or more spells that have Shield Trigger to your hand with a Breaker ability. (The ruling was so changed on September 24, 2021). This is because the "number of spells cast in that turn" is 0 at the time of the declaration, and the "number of spells cast in that turn" doesn't increase to more than 1.
- Even if a card can't be moved from a graveyard due to your opponents Kurozu, Blockade's Oath, you can declare the usage of Gate of Moonless Night. The ability is a conditional summoning ability, and Kurozu, Blockade's Oath isn't an ability that prohibits summoning.
- Even if your opponent's Jay-SHOCKER prohibits the act of putting a card that costs 4into the battle zone, you can declare the use of The Lost, Dark Armor. This is because the abilities action is to first put a shield into your graveyard, and then tries to be put into the battle zone.
- Even if you can't put a creature, you can declare a Revolution 0 trigger for evolution creatures. This is because the abilities action is to first reveal the creature from your hand for the convenience of the text, and and then tries to be put into the battle zone.
- You can declare the act of summoning under the effect of "Can't Summon", but no processing will occur while the effect is active.
- You wouldn't be able to use the ability pf Forever Occult, Purgatory Demon Dragon to destroy 3 of your creatures.
- You can't summon a creature or use the Galaxyshield ability of a card such as Azure Rising General.
- You could declare multiple Shield Trigger abilities, but no summoning occurs if you can't remove the effect that prevents you from summoning by the time you would resolve the Shield Triggers. If you can't, the summons will misfire.
- You must meet the conditions on the time of the trigger up to the "whenever ~," part of the effect.
- After confirming that each player has finished declaring the usage of abilities, resolve the declared and undeclared trigger abilities in the order of active player before the non-active player.
- If the condition is not fulfilled at the time of resolution , the declaration is treated as a misfire and the card stays in its original zone and are not put into the graveyard.
- For example, if Deddam, Disaster attacks, and you declare the usage of the Invasion ability of Deadzone, S-Rank Zombie, Adamski, S-Rank Space and Sanmadd, S-Rank Tribe as they must be declared at the same time. However, once you resolve any of them and evolve the 'Deddam, Diaster', the other 2 card's don't meet the civilization requirements of Invasion on the next creature, so the Invasion abilities will misfire and they stay in your hand.
- If you declared the usage of 2 or more Valchuris, Dragon Armored, as the ability can only be used once per turn, the second and subsequent cards will misfire.
- If the condition is not fulfilled at the time of resolution , the declaration is treated as a misfire and the card stays in its original zone and are not put into the graveyard.
- If the declared card moves to another zone before its ability resolves, the effect cannot be resolved, and the action fails while being put in that zone.
- For example, If both Cyber Tune and Terror Pit are added to your hand as Shield Triggers from your shield zone, you can declare the usage of them both. If you cast Cyber Tune and was to discard that Terror Pit that is waiting on standby, you will be unable to cast it, as it is now in your graveyard.
- Once declared, the ability must be completed to the end, except when the condition is not fulfilled and the ability misfires. You have to do it even if you don't want to do it during the resolution stage.
- Either the declared ability or the undeclared ability can be resolved first.
- Before you resolve Invasion and put it on the creature, you can resolve the Attack Trigger of the original creature.
Rule Details[]
Abilities triggered by "Shield Check"[]
These are abilities that can be used and interupt the processing of other abilities and are part of the processing of replacement effects.
Abilities that have to be declared immediately as it would trigger[]
- Invasion
- Revolution Change
- Attack Chance
- Abilities such as Valchuris, Dragon Armored
- Gate of Moonless Night
- Gate of Moonless Night Zetsu (During your turn)
- Void Gate of Moonless Night
The timing of these abilities are included in their text. To use them, they must be declared when they would trigger. If this timing is missed, they can't be put on standby to later resolve.
- For example, when you attack with The Black V, Roaring Sound, you have to declare the usage of the Invasion ability at the start of the attack, alongside the Attack Trigger ability. You can't declare the usage of the Invasion ability after resolving the attack trigger of 'The Black V, Roaring Sound'.
Abilities that trigger at the end of the turn[]
(The following rule change occurred, resulting in the following examples.)
The following steps are taken.
- 1) The active player declares the usage of a triggered ability or abilities.
- 2) Resolve any pending effects of the active player that are on standby in any order.
- 3) When all of the active player's effects on standby have resolved, the non-active player declares the use of any of their triggered abilities that require declaration of use.
- 4) Resolve any pending effects of the non-active player's pending effects that are on standby in any order. If an active player's effect triggers during this processing, the active player's effect is prioritized after resolving the current effect being processed, and then processing returns to the non-active player.
Example 1
- Your opponent hasn't put any creatures this turn without paying their cost.
- At the end of this turn, your opponent uses the effect of Heaven's Heaven, Heavenly Justice to put a creature with the "at the end of the turn" timing.
- After your opponent resolves all their "at the end of the turn" effects, you can declare the usage of a card with the timing "at the end of your opponent's turn".
- In this case, as 'Heaven's Heaven, Heavenly Justice' put a creature without paying their cost, you can declare the usage of ZERO Hand and cast it.
Previously before the ruling change, you could declare and cast, but the ZERO Hand had to be declared before your opponent actually put a creature. The ruling change now allows you to declare the usage and resolve after seeing what creatures your opponent puts into the battle zone.
Example 2
- Your opponent has put a creatures this turn without paying their cost.
- At the end of the turn, your opponent resolves the effect of their MacGuffin, Play's Origin with the "at the end of the turn" timing and each player draws a card.
- If you were to draw ZERO Hand with this effect, you would be able to declare its usage after your opponent resolves all their "at the end of the turn" effects.
By the time you draw the card, the timing had passed, so you were unable to cast it. Due to the ruling change, the hand is updated before you would declare an ability, so it can now be cast.
Abilities that trigger "whenever your opponent's creature attacks"[]
- Ninja Strike
- Revolution 0 Trigger
- Abilities such as Savark Calibur, Ghiramessiah
These are used after the active player declares any of their abilities that trigger they want to declare. This is because of the Attack processing in the Attack Declaration Step.
- Therefore, each of the active players abilities (ie: your opponent) will resolve before you can declare the usage of these abilities.

Rule Changes[]
2020.10.23 Rule Revision
- The scope of abilities that require a declaration of use was defined as "triggered abilities that activate in a hidden zone require a declaration of use." Prior to the revision, the need for a declaration of use was determined individually for each card and keyword ability. For example, there were cases like Bio Kick, where an ability triggered in a hidden zone but didn't require a declaration of use.
2021.06.24 Rule Revision
- When multiple triggered abilities that require a declaration of use are triggered, the rule now explicitly states that they should be processed in the order: "turn player's declaration of use → turn player's ability resolution → non-turn player's declaration of use → non-turn player's ability resolution".
- Originally, this was the resolution order, but since late 2020, official Q&A responses suggested processing in the order: "turn player's declaration of use → non-turn player's declaration of use → turn player's ability resolution → non-turn player's ability resolution," which caused confusion.
Other[]
- Humanity, Nameless God and Deal, Mechanic / 「Today's Lucky Number!」 are also said to be "declaring" when you choose a card name or number for their effects, but this is not the same as this rule term.

|
- Q: What kind of abilities require a declaration of use?
- A: Abilities such as "Ninja Strike", "Invasion", and "Gate of the Moonless Night" are abilities that can trigger in a hidden zone. Even if these abilities trigger in a public zone, such as the mana zone or graveyard, they still require a declaration of use, in the same way as if they had triggered from a hidden zone. source [2021.6.24]
- Q: When Grigyan, Darma is put into the battle zone and there is a creature with 'Gate of the Moonless Night' in your graveyard, but there are not enough Magic Tools, if a Magic Tool is put from the top of your deck due to the ability of Grigyan, Darma, can 卍 De Szark 卍's 'Gate of the Moonless Night' be used based on that?
- A: Yes, it can be used. 'Gate of the Moonless Night' triggers when a Magic Tool is put in the battle zone and is in your hand or graveyard, allowing you to declare its use. At the time of resolution, you gather the necessary number of Magic Tools from the battle zone and graveyard to use it, so the Magic Tools don't need to be fully available at the time of declaration. However, if the required number of Magic Tools isn't present at the time of resolution, it will fail, and using 'Gate of the Moonless Night' won't be considered successful. source [2021.6.24]
- Q: With the "whenever this attacks" ability of Magand, Bloodlust Demon Dragon, if a card returned from your shields to your hand has 'Invasion' or 'Revolution Change', can you use those abilities?
- A: No, you must declare the use of triggered abilities such as 'Invasion' or 'Revolution Change' before resolving their effects. source [2020.10.23]
From the Duel Masters - General Game Rules: Version 1.45 (April 18, 2025)
- 506.3. Trigger abilities that trigger due to attacking trigger.
- 506.3a Abilities that trigger on a creature attacking trigger only at the point the creature is declared as an attacker. They will not trigger if a creature attacks and then that creature’s characteristics change to match the ability’s trigger condition.
Example: "Whenever a nature creature attacks, destroy that creature at the end of the attack." If a water creature attacks and its civilization changes to nature, the ability will not trigger.
- 506.3b Some trigger abilities require a 'declaration of usage'. The active player must declares the usage of these abilities at this time. These can include trigger abilities that trigger in a private zone, such as 'Ninja Strike' and 'Revolution Change'. (Reference: 603.2e)

- Q: In a situation where an opponent's Jay-SHOCKER ability prevents a card that costs 6 from being put into the battle zone, if the opponent's creature attacks, can I declare Hayabusaryu, Dragon Ninja's 'Ninja Strike' and summon it from my hand?
- A: You can declare the use of "Ninja Strike," but you can't summon it. As a result, Hayabusaryu, Dragon Ninja will remain in your hand, and nothing will happen. source [2021.4.14]
- Q: At the end of the opponent's turn, I declared the use of Basara's ZERO and 「Chikushoooooo!!」's 'At the end of your opponent's turn' ability with the cards in my hand. While resolving, if I use Basara's 'Revolution 0' to destroy the opponent's creature first, and all of the opponent's creatures are gone, the next ability I would use, '「Chikushioooooo!!」' says "you may cast it." Can I choose not to cast it?
- A: No, you can't. Triggered abilities that require a declaration of use must always be used once declared. Since you have already declared the use of 「Chikushioooooo!!」, you cannot choose not to use it afterward. source [2021.5.21]
- Q: Due to the Final Revolution of Miradante Twelve, Time Pope, I am unable to summon creatures that cost 7 or less. Can I still declare the use of abilities that put creatures into the battle zone, such as Bolshack Dogiragon's 'Revolution 0 Trigger' or Basara's 'ZERO'?
- A: Yes, you can declare the use. Abilities that put creatures into the battle zone aren't considered summoning, so even in a situation with the "can't summon" effect, you can declare and use them without any issues. source [2021.5.21]
- Q: Due to the Final Revolution of Miradante Twelve, Time Pope, I am unable to summon creatures that cost 7 or less. Can I still declare the use of abilities that summon creatures, such as Aqua Surfer's 'Shield Trigger', Crack Crawler's 'Strike Back' or Hayabusamaru, Lightfang Ninja's 'Ninja Strike'?
- A: No, you can't. If you can't summon creatures, you can't declare the use of abilities that summon creatures. In this case, you also can't discard a card to add a card to your hand with Strike Back's effect. source [2021.5.21]
- Q: I drew 2 cards with Wayball (Byron Star)'s "whenever this attacks" ability, but since my hand was 6 cards or less, the attack stopped. In this case, can my opponent use abilities from cards that trigger "whenever one of your opponent's creatures attacks"?
- A: Abilities that trigger in the public zone, such as Cyberdice Vegas, Gambling Expert of D can be used. However, cards that require a declaration of use, such as 'Ninja Strike', can't be used if the attack is canceled, as the declaration of use can't be made. source [2021.6.25]
From the Duel Masters - General Game Rules: Version 1.45 (April 18, 2025)
- 505.6a Once a creature has been designated as an attacking creature or blocking creature, it isn't removed from the current attack or block even if an ability prohibiting that creature from participating in the attack or block is triggered afterwards. However, if either the attacking creature or the creature being attacked is removed from "that attack" by some effect, the attack ends immediately and proceeds to the end of combat step. At this time, effects waiting to be resolved are resolved, but a new ability that can be declared for optional use by a non-turn player (as defined in 506.3d) can't be added.
From the Duel Masters - General Game Rules: Version 1.45 (April 18, 2025)
- Q: If I have ZERO Hand in my hand and my opponent has Heaven's Heaven, Heavenly Justice in the battle zone, and I want to use 'ZERO Hand' at the end of the opponent's turn, should I declare the use of "ZERO" before or after my opponent uses the ability of 'Heaven's Heaven, Heavenly Justice'?
- A: You declare the use of 'ZERO' after your opponent has used the ability Heaven's Heaven, Heavenly Justice. Any Preservation State effects are resolved first, and then the non-turn player declares the abilities that require a declaration of use. source [2021.6.24]
- Q: During the opponent's turn, they cast Inferno Sign and put MacGuffin, Play's Origin from their graveyard to the battle zone. At the end of that turn, with the effect of 'MacGuffin, Play's Origin', I drew ZERO Hand. Can I use 'ZERO Hand' from my hand with 'ZERO'?
- A: Yes, you can. After all of the turn player's effects are resolved, the non-turn player declares the use of abilities. Since 'ZERO Hand' is in your hand at the time of declaring the use, you can declare and use it without any issues. source [2021.6.24]
- Q: I have Bangetsu 卍 Ga Ryuzark 卍 / Bangokusatsu in my hand and Durinri, Darma in the battle zone. At the end of my turn, after resolving Durinri, Darma's "at the end of the turn" ability, can I declare the use of the 'Gate of Moonless Night Zetsu' ability of 'Bangetsu 卍 Ga Ryuzark 卍 / Bangokusatsu'?
- A: No, you can't. When the turn player wants to declare the use of a triggered ability at the end of the turn, they must declare it before resolving the ability. In this case, you need to declare the use of 'Gate of Moonless Night Zetsu' before resolving Durinri, Darma's or any other "at the end of the turn" triggered abilities. source [2021.6.24]
- Q: When Heaven's Rosia, True Dragon Ruler attacks, can I declare Miradante Twelve, Time Pope's 'Revolution Change', put out 'Miradante Twelve, Time Pope', and then declare the 'Invasion' of Dead Damned, Triple S-Rank Disaster?
- A: No, you can't. Abilities such as 'Revolution Change' and 'Invasion' are triggered abilities that require a declaration of use. You must declare all the abilities you want to use before resolving them. source [2021.9.24]

- A: Yes, you can. Even if the attacking creature no longer meets the conditions after declaring the use of "Attack Chance," the effect can still be resolved. source [2021.9.24]
- Q: I have two Eternal Premiums, Secret Forbidden Dragon in my hand, and during my turn, I haven't cast any spells yet. My opponent's Jogiragon and Johnny ~J's Journey~ is in the battle zone. When my Vol-Val-8, Forbidden Dragon King attacks, can I declare the use of both 'Eternal Premiums, Secret Forbidden Dragon's 'Attack Chance' abilities?
- A: Yes, you can. As long as the conditions for declaring the "Attack Chance" abilities are met, you can declare both of them even if you haven't cast any spells yet. source [2021.9.24]
- Q: If I have two Gaiash Kaiser, the Meteor cards in my hand, can I declare both of their "At the end of the opponent's turn" triggered abilities?
- A: Yes, you can declare the use of both Gaiash Kaiser, the Meteor's triggered abilities at the end of the opponent's turn. However, only one can be put onto the battle zone. After the first one is put into the battle zone, the second one can't be summoned and will remain in your hand. source [2021.10.22]
- Q: When I cast Baredu, Daspell, I declared the use of Gar Raganzark's 'Fantasy Gate of Moonless Night' from my hand. While drawing 2 cards and discarding 1, I discarded the Gar Raganzark that had been declared for 'Fantasy Gate of Moonless Night'. Can I summon that Gar Raganzark from the graveyard with 'Fantasy Gate of Moonless Night'?
- A: Yes, you can. Since the ability of 'Fantasy Gate of Moonless Night' resolves after the discard and it specifically allows you to summon the discarded 'Gar Raganzark' from the graveyard, you can indeed summon it from there. source [2022.5.20]

- 400.5a Cards that move from a public zone to a private zone may no longer be seen by all players.
- 400.5b When a tapped card in a mana zone is put into the battle zone, it is put into the battle zone untapped.

- A: Yes, you can. The "onto another creature" ability of Dead Damned, Triple S-Rank Disaster will resolve first and destroy Recodeking Number Nine, allowing you to proceed with declaring the use of Dead Disaster, Secret Disaster's 'Attack' Chance' after that. Since Recodeking Number Nine's effect prevents you from casting spells, it's destroyed first, enabling the spell casting to proceed. source [2023.2.17]
- A: Yes, you can. Since the 'Oniend' of 'Hyakki no Jaoumon' is a triggered ability, it can be used during the attack phase, as long as you declare its use after adding it to your hand. The timing of the attack does not affect the ability's activation once it's in your hand, similar to how abilities like 'Revolution 0 Trigger' or 'Ninja Strike' work. source [2023.4.10]

- 506.3c The active players effect's that are were put on standby are then resolved.
- 506.3d The non-active player declares each of their trigger abilities that require a declaration of usage. Even if the conditions weren't met at the time the attacking creature was specified, the ability can be declared for usage if the conditions are met at this point.
- 506.3e The non-active player effects that are on standby are then resolved in any order. If any of active player's effect would trigger during this process, the activer's effect takes precedence after resolving the non-active player's effect being processed, and then after processing the active player's effect, it returns to resolving the abilities of the non-active player.
- 506.3a Abilities that trigger on a creature attacking trigger only at the point the creature is declared as an attacker. They will not trigger if a creature attacks and then that creature’s characteristics change to match the ability’s trigger condition.

- Q: When my opponent breaks all my shields with Supernova Apollonus Dragerion's 'Meteor Burn', I cast Dondon Vacuuming Now with 'Shield Trigger' and add Hyakki no Jaoumon from my deck to my hand, and return the attacking 'Supernova Apollonus Dragerion' to their hand. Even after the "When you choose the ability" ability of 'Supernova Apollonus Dragerion' makes me put card from my mana zone into the graveyard, I still have Darkness and Fire cards in my mana zone. At this point, can I use the "Oniend" ability of Hundred Demons' Evil King Gate that I added to my hand? (Similar abilities: 'Revolution 0 Trigger' and 'Ninja Strike',)
- A: No, you can't. When an attacking creature leaves the battle zone, there is no opportunity for the non-turn player to declare abilities afterward. Since the 'Oniend' ability of Hyakki no Jaoumon requires a declaration, if the attacking creature is returned to your hand, you can't declare it and use it. However, if 'Dondon Vacuuming Now' had returned a different creature (other than Supernova Apollonus Dragerion) to your opponent's hand, the attack would continue after that action, and you would be able to declare the 'Oniend' ability. source [2023.4.10]
