Template:Infobox Keyword Deck evolution is an evolution keyword exclusive to Fire Civilization evolution creatures.
Details
Rather than requiring a creature already on the field, when a creature that has Deck Evolution is played, you may reveal the top card of the deck. If its a creature, you may put the evolution creature into the battle zone over the revealed card. Otherwise, the summon fails, the Deck Evolution creature is returned to your hand, and the mana cost paid for it is not refunded.
This is usually quite useless due to the luck element involved to evolve the creature and should the player fail he will waste precious resources.
A variant of this mechanic is Mad Deck evolution, which lets you reveal the top 3 cards instead of just the top. If any one of those are creatures, you choose one of them to be used as for the evolution.
