Dead Card refers to the cards in your hand or battle zone that are in state of no use at all under certain situations. A card is "Dead" because it is useless in that situation.
Details
Examples include:
- No cards in your opponents hand, while you hold Lost Soul, Demon Wolf, Betrayal Moonlight Castle or any other discard card.
- Holding a high cost trigger such as Holy, Flash Guardian and Team Tech's Wave Go! in your hand.
- Holding a high cost card during the early turns of the game.
- Holding an Evolution Creature in your hand without an Evolution Source.
- Each of your opponents creatures have too much power for a Category:Power Based Removal card.
- A card such as Berlin, Bell Gravekeeper when your opponent doesn't use Card Discard.
- A basic Mana accel such as Faerie Life late in the game. Pixie Life suffers from less of this problem because it can recover powerful colorless finishers from mana.
- Magnum, Shortshot when opponent has a massive concentration of spell triggers, or Rafululu, Sound Faerie in vice versa. When both of them are put into the battle zone in the same turn, this is complimented.
Depending on the situation, even powerful metagame cards can become useless based on the deck you are playing against. Some cards such as draw spells will often always prove useful, but even powerful abilities such as Mana Acceleration can be useless with too much of it.
