Can evolve from this creature is effect text that appears on creatures allowing you to put evolution creatures over them if conditions are met.

Details[]

It first appeared on Laurier, Ogre Princess.

■ When you put this creature into the battle zone, if you don't have a shield, search your deck. You may take a (Victory) creature from your deck and show that creature to your opponent. If that creature can evolve from this creature, put it on top of this creature. Otherwise, add it to your hand. Then shuffle your deck.

It is more commonly used with Evo Lupia.

■ When you put this creature, draw a card. Then you may put a creature from your hand that costs 5 or less that can evolve from this creature on top of it.

To judge this condition, it is necessary to compare the traits of the creature from which the effect originates and the traits of the target card, especially the details of its evolution ability. If the target card does not have an evolution ability, it is excluded from the condition at that point. If the evolution ability is present and the evolution condition matches the creature from which the effect originates, the condition is fulfilled.

  • The text "can evolve into the following creatures" includes not only general evolution creatures but also creatures with Super Infinite Evolution, which can not only evolve on their own but also with multiple other sources, as well as Vortex Evolution (or higher). It also includes Neo Creatures while they are outside the battle zone.
  • Currently, as of DM22-EX2, all creatures with this text also put a card that can evolve from this creature onto it (optional). The matching card must use itself as the Evolution Source.
    • "At this time, the evolution method must be carried out according to the evolution ability of the evolution creature. For example, when using the 'put on top' ability of a creature in the battle zone, only creatures with evolution abilities that target the battle zone, such as regular evolution or Neo Evolution can be used.
    • Mana Evolution or Forbidden Star Evolution may be considered as 'evolvable' creatures in a broader sense, but evolution creatures that evolve from outside the battle zone can't be put.
  • If, during the resolving for this effect, "this creature" evolves into a different card, the condition will be checked based on its current trait at that point.
  • As a card referring to the evolution condition, Spiritual Star Dragon was present in DM-13 before "Laurier, Ogre Princess" .
  • Sir Virginia, Mystic Light Insect doesn't have the text "This creature can evolve into the following" but its design is similar to tribe-specified evolution creatures.
    • While similar, cards that could use Spiritual Star Dragon as an evolution source will not allow you to search cards such as Infinity Phoenix, Dragonflame Phoenix or Evol Dogiragon which don't specify the Dragon tribe as the evolution source, showing a significant difference in practice.

  • Q: Can you put a creature with Vortex Evolution such as Death Phoenix, Avatar of Doom on top of Evo Lupia with its "when you put" ability?

  • Q: I have Deddam, Disaster in the battle zone, and put Evo Lupia. Can I put Infinite Orchestra of Love over them with the "when you put" ability of Evo Lupia?
  • Q: My opponent attacks me, and I declare the usage of Revolution 0 Trigger from my Bolshack Dogiragon. With its effect, I put an Evo Lupia from the top of my deck into the deck into the battle zone and put the Bolshack Dogiragon on top of it. Before I used the "when you put" ability of Bolshack Dogiragon, I used the "when you put" ability of Evo Lupia. How do I use the ability?

  • Q: Can I use the "when you put" ability of Momoking Rex, Orai Hero to put Momokingdam X, Forbidden Hero from my hand on top of it?
