Can't break is a Continuous Effect or Static Ability where your opponent can't break your shields.
Details[]
As the name suggests, it creates a situation where you can effectively avoid losing by preventing any of your shields from being broken.
However, there are also quite a few loopholes, so you can't be overconfident.
Rules[]
- Unlike the effect of Kizugui Henge which states that "your cards don't leave the shield zone" this ability does not prevent shields from leaving through non-break abilities or effects.
- This also applies when adding shields to your hand. For example, Necrodragon Bryzenaga uses the wording "put all your shields into your hand." and doesn't specify breaking. Therefore, you can't prevent the Shield Recovery of Bryzenaga's ability.
- On the other hand, it is effective against break replacement effects. It can nullify effects like Shield Burn from Bolmeteus Steel Dragon.
- Since Replacement Effects alter the outcome when the original effect is about to trigger, if the "unbreakable" effect is active, the original break itself doesn't occur. As a result, it can't be changed to a non-break effect through the replacement.
- It doesn't prevent attacks; it merely prevents the shields from being broken when the player is attacked.
- Depending on the situation, this could lead to risky friendship combos in Multiplayer games where Attack Trigger abilities are used, ignoring the threat of Shield Triggers.
- It is ineffective against a Direct Attack when there are no shields left.
- For instance, if there is only one shield remaining and Diehard Ryusei of Invincibility attacks, the shield may be removed through a method other than breaking via the attack trigger, allowing a direct attack to proceed.
