12 Programs is a term that appears in the background story.

Details[]

There are 12 sealed programs that have been passed down in the Water Civilization, which are said to create a new structure when the world becomes unstable. They were first introduced in 2002.

While they appear in the Trading Card Game as well as Duel Masters Play's, some details are different.

Therefore, this page details their portrayal seperately.

The 12 programs were created by Sapphire Wisdom to create a new structure when the world becomes unstable. *As of the start of the God of Abyss block, there are four known instances of the programs being used.

Trading Card Game[]

Shobu and Katta Era[]

It first appeared in DM-01 Base Set.

  • In the Water Civilization, which suffered a counterattack by the Rock Beasts, two of the twelve programs were unlocked by Cyber Lords such as Hypersquid Walter. They evolved the main force of Liquid People, into two forms (ie; Crystal Lancer and Crystal Paladin) and tried to turn the situation around.

It was used once in the world where Outrage and Oracle began to wirl together after the conclusion of the background story of Episode 3.

  • One of the 12 programs known as "O.V.E.R.Evo.," which prompts forced evolution was activated by the playful action of Amarin, Electro Star Tree Q (who was unaware that it was one of the 12 programs).
  • As a result, the dormant Survivors rapidly evolved, incorporating various creatures and races, including Amarin. From then on, the survivor faction engaged in a battle with the Outrage-Oracle coalition for millions of years. This information is mainly depicted in the flavor text of cards from sets such as DMD-26, DMEX-08, and DMEX-18.
  • The creator of the 12 programs, Sapphire Wisdom, enjoyed observing the chaos caused by "O.V.E.R.Evo." However, Sapphire Misty wasn't pleased that her released creatures were caught up in the chaos and turned into Survivors, and moved to stop "O.V.E.R.Evo." She added a 13th program that did not originally exist and rewrote the complementary structure originally possessed by the 12 programs. As a result, "O.V.E.R.Evo." stopped, and the 12 programs themselves went into functional shutdown. This is depicted in the flavor text of DMEX-18 and DM22-EX1.
  • However, the 12 programs had been supporting the very structure of the world until then. Its malfunction triggered various effects in the Episode World. One of the most significant impacts was the "Revival of the Great Continent.

Duel Masters (Joe Era)[]

Depictions after Ten Kings:

  • It appeared twice in The Rise of Kings story.
    • In the block featuring Dispectors, which mixes creature depictions from various timelines, one of the 12 disasters caused by Dokindante Twenty Two, Forbidden Time Hybrid King is shown. A switch to activate all 12 programs simultaneously is turned on, causing the computers in the Water Civilization to overheat and evaporate all the Liquid People in various places. It is believed that the programs did not actually activate at this time.
    • The second instance involves the Emperor Aqutasha, Hybrid Invincible, who utilized an updated version of the 12 programs, with the Mecha Del Sol series installing them one by one. Other than engaging in battle with the "Sacred Twelve Knights, its whereabouts are unknown (likely disappeared with the defeat of Emperor Aqutasha). It is unclear whether this update enhanced "danger level" or "ease of control."

Other Worlds[]

Depictions in other worlds:

  • The flavor text of Future Brain indicates that without the 12 programs, there is no system that can stop Cyber Lords from going on a rampage in a search of knowledge. The card's illustration depicts a giant Cyber Lord flying through space and devouring planets.
  • In episode 18 of the original anime series, there is a mention of "forbidden sealed programs that even Cyber Lords fear", suggesting that their existence serves as a limiter to their excessive growth.

Duel Masters Play's[]

  • It first appeared in the Basic Cards, with Hypersquid Walter, featuring the same flavor text from DM-01.
  • The terms "Forbidden Program" and "O.V.E.R.Evo." are mentioned in the DMPP-09 and DMPP-09EX sets, which correspond to the God Apex Saga in the TCG version. They are said to be programs that seal away the Survivors, but they were activated by 'Amarin, Electro Star Tree Q', leading to a huge increase in the number of Survivors since DMPP-09EX.
